My birthday vacation

I’m on vacation this week in San Diego for some much-needed R&R with my best friend, mainly for the Kaaboo Music Festival, during my birthday week. I’m so excited to be see No Doubt, The Killers, Young the Giant and Fitz and the Tantrums.

Have a wonderful weekend. And don’t stop gaming!

On vacation for some much-needed downtime.

Last night, I had the pleasure of playing in a giant game of John Company at @sdhistcon! We had four members in each of the four families on the board, and Cole and Drew ran the game that Cole created. It was a night of chaotic yelling, voting, wheeling and dealing we as tried to keep the company afloat, which we ultimately failed to do so as the game goes. My Hastings family members included Mark, Ananda and Sebastian. What a night!

I love logic puzzles and own the book Murdle Vol. 1. So when this book came out in a board game form, I had to try it! This was a fun implementation of the puzzles! There are 4 case cards, and you're trying to figure out which suspect used which weapon in which room, and only one set of the combos are the guilty party! Players know different starting information, and turns are spent revealing something from your chart. If you place an X, you get to look at one thing from one of the case cards, but if you place a checkmark, you can look at more information from the case cards. The puzzle slowly reveals itself and the first one to decipher the guilty party wins. Lastly, i learned there's a daily Murdle online, so I'm definitely adding that to my list of daily cozy puzzles.

Animal Crossing came to an aquarium in the Phoenix area, so of course I visited this weekend when Tom Nook and Isabelle made an appearance! The aquarium was decked out for both Animal Crossing and Halloween, so that was a nice treat! I was most amused by Gulliver included in the exhibit doing what he does best -- sleeping it off after a rough night. 😂 Lastly, seeing the entire Animal Crossing Lego collection together was just too cute. #animalcrossing #tomnook

Had a chance to teach Arcs at game day on Saturday. We played a 3P, and everyone had a great time! I can't say enough great things about this game. It's definitely my favorite game from @ledergames! I'm planning to teach this again next week as a few more people were interested in learning, so I can't wait to dive into this again soon.

Today I played Fief, a game I have not played in many, many years, with four other people and had a great time. You win the game with 3 victory points (or 4 if you join in a union with another player) by either becoming king or the pope and marching your armies across 1700s France to gain control of towns. But watch out for uprisings, bad weather, assassins and the Plague! I was the first to get the D'Arc card, which then immediately put a target on her back, and she was promptly killed. But it worked out in the end for me because I won as the king and 2 lords. 🎉
